Yes, I'm doing it again - I signed up for the 2008 Breast Cancer 3-Day! I had such an incredible experience doing the 3-Day in 2006 that I'm going back for more. I'm excited about this event, even though this year I really know what I've gotten myself into.Just in case you missed my account of my previous walk, follow the link below to visit my personal page, where I tell my story. This event isn't easy, but I promise you, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't believe 100% that it was worth every muscle ache, weary night and training walk!My training is going to begin this week. I start out by walking 3 miles on Sunny Beach Road where I live on the weekends. During the week, I'll walk after work or on my lunch breaks in Grand Rapids on the sidewalks. Eventually, I'll work up to 20 mile walks which can take up to 6-7 hours, depending who I stop and talk to along the way. By September, I should be ready for the 3 Day, 60 mile walk. I'm getting excited about walking. I feel like it's my way of fighting back and doing something about finding a cure for this disease....just one step at a time. But, I also need your help. I am planning on surpassing the $2,300.00 that you - my friends and family - gave so generously last time around to help fight breast cancer. I have lost two good friends to cancer this year. Both were talented women who were mentors for me. One taught me about herbs and gardening and the other taught me how to knit. They both had cancer, not necessarily breast cancer, but it was cancer just the same. I have lost other friends due to cancer over the years. My sister and mother were diagnosed with breast cancer 7 & 8 years ago. They are cancer free today, and I am convinced that the money raised by the men and women in walks like this directly result in better treatments for my Mom, my younger sister and my very good friend, Joan. Just follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising page and make a donation. If you have any questions or want to hear more about what I'm doing, I love talking about the event. Thanks for all of your support. I'm incredibly lucky to have people like you in my life!Love,Mary SchnellP.S. Don't wait - donate today!
